As an animal owner, I’m sure you want to keep your pet happy, but most of all healthy. There will always be that threat of worms, but there are things you can do to prevent it from happening to your pet.

If you’re a dog owner, there are many products and dog wormers you can use to get the job done. The most common of parasites are known as roundworms that usually infest puppies. Tapeworms are also a major threat when there is a high level of flea infestation. The easiest way to tell your animal is infected is by monitor the animal’s feces. For an average dog, symptoms can include Diarrhea, inactivity, appetite loss and vomiting that can indicate worms. If your pet is just a puppy, symptoms can differ. Usually puppies that are infested will have a sparse starting coat and a potbellied appearance. It is detrimental to a dog’s health that there is no infestation of parasites within the body, so be sure to take your dog to get checked if there are any signs of infestation.

The same can be said about cats. Usually symptoms like chronic diarrhea will persist, or something as simple as being lethargic may occur. Treatment should be immediately directed to a veterinarian as soon as there may be suspicion of an infestation. Don’t be scared to play it safe.

In the case of Equine healthcare, worms can be found everywhere on a farm, and are as detrimental to a horse as they are to every other animal. Worms in horses are common in all ages, but some worms only affect younger horses. There are certain chemicals, including wormers, that you can use for your horse if there is any sign of an infestation. Symptoms of worms in horses include tail rubbing, diarrhea, dehydration, weight loss, and many other symptoms. If these symptoms do persist, there are horse wormers and pest control options you could research further.

Remember to always take precautions for your pet, they are at risk just as much as you and I. Watch for certain symptoms that could arise, but don’t panic; there are steps you could take if your animal does contract worms.
